At Spital Clinic, we are committed to providing timely, expert-led women's healthcare. We are proud to launch our private gynaecology services, offering fast-track colposcopy appointments for women who need urgent cervical health assessments.

A colposcopy is a detailed examination of the cervix following an abnormal smear test result or unexplained symptoms like irregular bleeding. While NHS guidelines aim to provide a colposcopy within six weeks, many women experience delays of eight weeks or more.

At Spital Clinic, you won’t have to wait. Our specialist-led colposcopy service ensures quick access to care, helping you get the answers you need without unnecessary delays.

Why Choose Private Colposcopy?

If your cervical screening shows abnormal cells, early detection and follow-up are crucial. At Spital Clinic, our private colposcopy service with Dr. Mansi offers:

  • No long NHS waiting times – Get a prompt appointment
  • Expert-led care – Consult with a specialist in cervical health
  • Fast results – Receive timely and clear next steps
  • A comfortable, discreet setting – Designed for patient reassurance and support

Our colposcopy service ensures that you get quick access to diagnosis and treatment if needed.

What is a Colposcopy?

A colposcopy is an examination that allows a specialist to closely inspect your cervix using a magnifying instrument called a colposcope. This is typically recommended if:

  • Your smear test detected abnormal cells
  • You have high-risk HPV that hasn’t cleared
  • You experience irregular bleeding or pelvic pain
  • Your cervix appeared unusual during a routine check-up

If abnormal cells are found, a biopsy may be taken to determine whether treatment is needed. This will be for an additional price.

What Happens During a Private Colposcopy?

Before Your Appointment

  • Avoid tampons, vaginal creams, lubricants, or sex for at least 24 hours before your appointment
  • You can still attend if you are on your period, but rescheduling is an option
  • If you have an IUD (coil), it typically does not need to be removed

During the Procedure

  • A speculum is inserted (like during a smear test) to allow a clear view of the cervix
  • A colposcope is used to examine the cervix in detail (it does not enter the body)
  • Special solutions are applied to highlight abnormal cells
  • A biopsy may be taken if necessary, which may cause mild discomfort

The procedure usually takes 15–20 minutes.

After the Procedure

  • You can resume normal activities straight away
  • Some light bleeding or discharge is common for 3–5 days
  • Avoid tampons, sex, and vaginal creams until any bleeding stops

Understanding Your Colposcopy Results.

Your results will fall into one of the following categories:

  • Normal – No abnormal cells found; routine screening continues
  • Abnormal cells (CIN1, CIN2, CIN3) – May require treatment to prevent future cervical cancer risk
  • HPV positive but no cell changes – Requires follow-up monitoring

If treatment is needed, we provide clear next steps and discuss all available options.
